Fnnas (广州铁刃智造) sells its own NAS hardware as well as the fnOS system you can install on DIY machines. As of late 2025 the official line-up is seven SKUs: the compact EVO2 and EVO4 (Intel N150), the conventional four-bay BASIC4, the RK3588 Arm version of the EVO4, the two EVO4 PRO models (AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 and Intel i5-13500H), and the all-flash Beelink ME mini built jointly with Beelink. All are preloaded with fnOS.
The line-up at a glance
Every model below supports both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives in its bay slots unless noted — bay size is not the differentiator; the CPU tier, drive bay count, SSD slots and networking are. Prices are mainland-China RRP in CNY.
- EVO2 — 2-bay, Intel N150, 8/16 GB RAM option, 128 GB NVMe system drive, up to 68 TB. From ~¥1999 (Dec 2025). Compact aluminium chassis, hot-swap-style drive trays.
- EVO4 — 4-bay, Intel N150, 8/16 GB RAM option, 128 GB NVMe system drive, up to 144 TB. Dual 2.5GbE, front 10 Gbps USB-A, HDMI. From ~¥2699 (Apr 2026).
- BASIC4 — 4-bay classic rectangular chassis, Intel N150, 16 GB DDR5 (no-RAM base SKU), dual 2.5GbE, 128 GB NVMe system drive, up to 136 TB, hot-swappable bays. ~¥1999 (Apr 2026).
- EVO4 RK3588 — Fnnas's first Arm appliance: Rockchip RK3588 (4x A76 + 4x A55, 6 TOPS NPU), 8 GB DDR5, 64 GB eMMC plus dual M.2 and four SATA bays, dual 2.5GbE. ~¥1999 (Sep 2026).
- EVO4 PRO (AMD H255) — 4-bay 10GbE flag: Ryzen 7 H 255 (8C/16T, Radeon 780M), 16/32 GB DDR5 expandable to 128 GB, 10GbE + 2.5GbE, 4x SATA bays (32 TB each) + 4x M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 (8 TB each, SSD RAID 0/1/5), USB4, up to 152 TB. From ~¥4599 (Aug 2026).
- EVO4 PRO (Intel 13500H) — same chassis in an Intel flavor: Core i5-13500H (12C/16T), 8/16/32 GB DDR4 expandable to 96 GB, 10GbE + 2.5GbE, 4x SATA (32 TB each) + 4x M.2 PCIe 4.0, Intel Media Engine hardware transcoding. From ~¥4499 (Sep 2026).
- Beelink ME mini — the first partner hardware running fnOS: an all-flash 6-drive-slot mini NAS (1 M.2 system slot + 5 M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 storage slots, up to 4 TB each = 20 TB), Intel N150, 12 GB LPDDR5, dual 2.5GbE + WiFi 6, 99×99×99 mm.
2.5" vs 3.5": which drives actually fit
All SATA-bay models (EVO2, EVO4, BASIC4, both EVO4 PROs) accept 3.5" or 2.5" SATA drives — 3.5" drives screw into the tray, 2.5" uses dedicated mounting holes in the same tray. The RK3588 EVO4 follows the same four-SATA-bay layout. The Beelink ME mini is the opposite end: SSD-only, M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x1 slots, up to 4 TB per slot. There are no SAS bays, no M.2 in the N150 SKUs, and the EVO4 PRO's M.2 slots are PCIe 4.0 — SATA M.2 drives work in them but at 6 Gbps.
Does fnOS pick and choose your drives?
No official compatibility list — fnOS is not a drive whitelist, so any SATA/SSD drive your board detects can build pools. But the hardware line-up ships official drive bundles: the RK3588 EVO4 was launched with 4/8/16/32/64 TB Toshiba and Seagate HDD bundles, and the 32 TB-per-bay ratings on the EVO4 PROs are the practical ceiling. For the SATA models, treat the drive choice the same way as for the four HCL vendors we track: NAS-class or enterprise-class CMR drives with a rated workload, sized against the per-bay ceiling (32 TB PRO, 144 TB aggregate on the EVO4). For the ME mini, any M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 NVMe up to 4 TB.
fnOS installation: minimum requirements
- System disk: the OS installs onto a single drive. The minimum is 8 GB (per Fnnas' internal test team), but the official installer recommends a 64 GB system partition when the disk has room; swap is auto-sized from RAM. Reuse the leftover space on the system disk for apps and files — or pick a bigger SSD instead.
- Boot: a USB stick (16 GB+) written with the ISO (Rufus/Etcher), or a preinstalled appliance. Wired network is required for installation — Wi-Fi-only machines are not supported yet.
- BIOS: turn off Secure Boot or the installer stops with a mode warning.
- Architecture: mainstream x86 hardware is supported; the Arm (RK3588) line runs the Arm build (public beta track).
Sensible default configurations
- Home storage starter: BASIC4 or EVO4, 2-4 NAS-class HDDs (WD Red Plus, Seagate IronWolf, Toshiba N300/MG), 16 GB RAM, 10GbE not required — dual 2.5GbE covers the house.
- Media + transcode: EVO4 PRO Intel (Quick Sync hardware transcoding) or AMD (VCN + APV 422 Pro support), 32 GB RAM, SSD cache on the M.2 slots.
- All-flash compact: Beelink ME mini with 5x M.2 NVMe in RAID1/5 — fastest per-watt, 20 TB ceiling.
- Quiet Arm box: RK3588 EVO4 for a low-power media/album node; NPU (6 TOPS) feeds fnOS's local AI features.
For DIY x86 boxes running fnOS, our drive guides for the four official HCL vendors remain the best proxy: the same NAS-class drives Fnnas bundles are the ones the Synology, QNAP, Asustor and TerraMaster lists favor.
Quick answers
What official NAS hardware does Fnnas (飞牛) make?
Seven SKUs: EVO2 (2-bay), EVO4 (4-bay N150), BASIC4 (4-bay classic chassis), EVO4 RK3588 (Arm), EVO4 PRO in AMD H255 and Intel 13500H versions (4-bay 10GbE flags), and the all-flash Beelink ME mini (6x M.2). All ship with fnOS preinstalled.
Do Fnnas NAS devices take 2.5" or 3.5" drives?
All SATA-bay models (EVO2, EVO4, BASIC4, EVO4 PRO) take both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives in the same trays. The Beelink ME mini is SSD-only: M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 slots, up to 4 TB each.
Are there SSD options inside Fnnas NAS units?
Yes. Every SKU has an M.2 NVMe system drive (typically 128 GB). The EVO4 PRO adds four M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 storage slots supporting SSD RAID 0/1/5 (up to 8 TB per module). The RK3588 EVO4 has dual M.2 plus four SATA bays. The ME mini is 100% SSD storage.
Does fnOS have a hard drive compatibility list?
No. fnOS has no drive whitelist — any drive the hardware detects can build pools. Fnnas does sell official HDD bundles (Toshiba/Seagate 4-64 TB on the RK3588 EVO4), which double as the vendor-blessed choices.
What is the minimum disk for installing fnOS?
The system installs to a single drive. Minimum is 8 GB; the official installer recommends a 64 GB system partition where the disk allows. Use an SSD for the system disk, keep it separate from your storage pool, and install over wired network (Wi-Fi-only installs are not supported yet).
