铁牛 TieNiu NAS — brand guide & official specs

TieNiu (铁牛, "Iron Cow") is the consumer-NAS brand of Fujian Centerm Information (福建升腾资讯) — a maker of embedded terminals and financial kiosk hardware since the 1990s. Like UniFi and fnOS on this site, TieNiu does not publish a per-drive whitelist: the official product pages state bay count, SATA support and maximum capacity, and any standard drive within those limits works.

About TieNiu (铁牛)

Company: Fujian Centerm Information 福建升腾资讯 (centerm.com), 铁牛/TieNiu brand; [email protected]

Founded: 2025 (TieNiu AI NAS unveiled April 2025)

Product type: Turnkey consumer NAS hardware + closed TieNiu OS

Compatibility model: Official product specs (bay count, max capacity, SATA), no per-drive whitelist — same pattern as UniFi & fnOS

Current lineup: Zero 1 (2-bay, RK3568), Zero 1 Pro (4-bay N100 international / 6-bay 112 TB version unveiled at CEIC 2026)

TieNiu (铁牛, also branded 'Iron Cow' overseas) is the consumer-NAS brand of Fujian Centerm Information (福建升腾资讯), a company that has spent decades in embedded terminals, financial kiosks and cloud-PC hardware. The brand launched in April 2025 as Centerm's 'family smart storage solution': a turnkey private-cloud box positioned as a one-time purchase that frees users from cloud subscriptions.

Two products define the line. Zero 1 is the entry two-bay unit (Rockchip RK3568, 4 GB DDR4, single 2.5 GbE port, up to 48 TB). Zero 1 Pro steps up to Intel N100, 8 GB DDR4 and dual 2.5 GbE ports with link aggregation to 5 GbE — four bays in the international version, and a six-bay 112 TB configuration unveiled at CEIC 2026 running TieNiu OS 2.0 with RAID, Docker, a built-in video center, AI album and offline download engine.

The software story matters more than the specs. TieNiu OS runs fully on a LAN after first-time activation (断网可办公), ships the proprietary DFS dynamic-backup mode (important files are mirrored to a second physical disk so a single drive failure is survivable), keeps all user data and passwords on the user's own drives only, isolates data between accounts completely, and bundles an app center with Jellyfin, Navidrome, Home Assistant, Memos and Docker.

How TieNiu drive compatibility works

Five hardware vendors on this site publish per-drive whitelists; TieNiu (like fnOS and UniFi) publishes official specs only. The rules are simple: standard SATA 3.5"/2.5" drives, a per-model capacity ceiling (48 TB for the 2-bay Zero 1, up to 112 TB (6-bay version) for the six-bay Zero 1 Pro), and — since TieNiu OS 2.0 supports RAID — the same advice as everywhere else: prefer CMR, NAS-class drives for RAID arrays. TieNiu's proprietary DFS mode mirrors important files to a second physical drive instead of a full RAID, which works fine with any drive pair.

Strengths & weaknesses

✓ What TieNiu does well

  • 断网可办公 — usable as a pure-LAN box after first-time activation, no cloud dependency
  • DFS dynamic backup — important files mirrored to a second physical drive (proprietary, not plain RAID)
  • All user data and passwords stay on the user's own drives; official service stores nothing
  • Complete per-account data isolation (even admin cannot browse other accounts' files)
  • TieNiu Link remote access without a public IP
  • Strong media story: poster wall matching, family sharing, 5G on-the-go playback

✗ Where it trails

  • Very young brand (launched 2025) — small ecosystem, short track record, community still forming
  • Closed OS: Docker and app center are there, but the open-Debian tinkering of fnOS is absent
  • No per-drive compatibility list — drive selection is by SATA/size, not by an official HCL
  • Entry model is ARM (RK3568) — lighter Docker/AI headroom than x86 rivals at similar prices
  • International site is thin; most detailed specs live in Centerm press releases

Who should buy TieNiu (and who shouldn't)

Good fit if you:

Look elsewhere if:

Pricing: New entrant, pricing in early days: entry 2-bay to mid 4/6-bay tiers (CNY street pricing to be confirmed)

Software: TieNiu OS (铁牛OS 2.0) — closed, Debian-derived. Remote access via TieNiu Link (no public IP needed).

TieNiu FAQ

Who makes TieNiu (铁牛) NAS?

Fujian Centerm Information (福建升腾资讯, centerm.com) — an established embedded-terminal and financial-kiosk hardware maker. TieNiu is its consumer private-cloud brand, launched April 2025.

Does TieNiu publish a drive compatibility list?

Not a per-drive HCL like Synology or QNAP. Official specs state bay count, SATA 3.5"/2.5" support and maximum capacity (48 TB for Zero 1, up to 112 TB for the 6-bay Zero 1 Pro); any standard SATA drive within those limits is supported.

What is DFS?

TieNiu's proprietary dynamic-backup mode: important files are automatically mirrored to a second physical drive, so a single-drive failure does not lose data — simpler for users than manual RAID configuration.
